Last year we anticipated the SaaS trends of 2017. While we saw some of our predictions play out more than others, we had fun doing it and have already cleaned off our crystal ball to help us predict the top SaaS trends of 2018. We think these trends will shape SaaS as we know it in 2018. Keep a watchful eye on them throughout the new year!
Once SaaS companies hit a certain level their focus begins to shift from customer acquisition to customer retention. How is this done? By companies providing a Platform-as-a-Service. PaaS allows users to create or add new services to the original product and increase their usage as needed. Companies like Salesforce have begun to already do this by launching the Force.com platform.
Unified Customer Success
Customer success is critical component of a company's growth strategy. To develop a strong customer success strategy, businesses–especially B2B SaaS companies–will need to unify their customer success, marketing, and sales departments. Aligning these department will help create better, more cohesive strategies for increasing product adoption and improving the buyer's journey.
AI and Machine Learning
Artificial Intellegence and Machine Learning were big in 2017. Spoiler alert: they aren't going any where in 2018! In fact, they are going to be more important than ever in the upcoming year. From chatbots to hyper personlization, AI and machine learning are enabling a marketing revolution.
Mobile Will Continue to be King
Mobile users wordlwide are expected to grow 2.5 billion in 2018, which means mobile-focused-SaaS will see a major uptick. With the growth of the Gig Economy and people working on the go, mobile apps are helping pave the way for users to work wherever and whenever. In 2018 we'll see companies focusing even more on their mobile apps. Focusing on mobile allows SaaS companies to create a better user experience by allowing customers to use their product when it is most convenient for them.
2017 was an innovative year that has us excited about the innovations that await us in 2018. 2018 is going to be one of the most exciting years yet for SaaS companies!
