Each week, PactSafe will discuss and post about specific standardized agreements and how they can be turned into one-click contracts. Last week, we covered Content Licensing Agreements. This week, we're focusing on the AIA Change Order Form: what it is, why its typical signing method isn't ideal, and how it can be turned into a one click contract on the PactSafe platform.

A one click contract is like any other contract, but it’s presented in a way that allows the person signing it to do so by simply clicking on it. With very few exceptions, any contract can be signed with a single click on a website, from a phone, in an email — anywhere you meet your customers digitally, you can deliver a 1-click contract.
AIA (American Institute of Architects) Change Order Form is used for executing changes in the agreed work and price by the owner, contractor, and architect. Signature of a completed form indicates agreement upon all terms of the change, including changes to the contract price and time. It is an amendment to the original contract.
The form allows for signatures from the Architect, Contractor and Owner and outlines a description of the agreed upon changes of the owner, architect and contractor, and for a description of the change from the original contract.
These forms are typically signed in person. For record keeping purposes, the form should be printed and signed three times so that each party has an original copy to clarify and issues that could potentially come up later on the project.

It could be difficult to get all three parties together to sign the contracts together in office, and also inconvenient if perhaps the owners are living out of state during construction.
AIA Change Order Forms can be pre-filled out by Contractor or Architect outlining time or cost changes and routed to Owner for signature remotely.
Contracts can be signed at the signers convenience and done remotely instead of scheduling time to get all three parties together to execute the contract.

1-click contracts are absolutely binding. Also known as “clickwraps,” courts have enforced millions of contracts accepted by a single click. PactSafe’s platform was built to help ensure 1-click contracts are created in compliance with all the best practices established in 1000’s of court cases over the past 20+ years.
